POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day business and administrative functions of the law practice. This role ensures operational efficiency, financial health, and strategic growth by managing personnel, technology, facilities, and financial processes. The Director of Operations collaborates closely with firm leadership to enhance productivity, profitability, and client service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations & Administration
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring the smooth running of the firm's legal and administrative functions.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve workflow efficiency.
- Manage office infrastructure, technology, and vendor relationships.
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
Financial Management
- Work with firm leadership and accounting teams to develop budgets, monitor financial performance, and control expenses.
- Oversee billing, collections, and accounts payable/receivable processes.
- Analyze financial data to recommend strategies for profitability and cost reduction.
Human Resources & Talent Management
- Supervise administrative staff, ensuring high performance and professional development.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies for attorneys and support staff.
- Develop and enforce HR policies, employee benefits, and performance evaluation processes.
- Foster a positive and inclusive firm culture that aligns with business objectives.
Business Development & Client Relations
- Collaborate with attorneys and marketing teams to enhance client acquisition and retention.
- Oversee marketing initiatives, branding, and online presence.
- Identify opportunities to improve client service and satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, finance, or a related field (MBA or JD preferred).
- Minimum of 5-10 years of operations or management experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services setting.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and financial oversight.
- Knowledge of legal industry operations, billing systems, and compliance requirements.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in legal practice management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and financial systems.
