Job Title: Veteran Outreach Specialist
Salary Range: $80,000-$100,000
Reports to: Executive Director
Description: The Veteran Outreach Specialist will oversee and engage in all activities involved in initiating, establishing, maintaining, and cultivating relationships between the client, referral sources, and Miramar Health LLC. The Veteran Outreach Specialist will be responsible for fostering new business and relationships with all the Veteran Affairs entities throughout the nation. This role requires frequent travel however is primarily a hybrid position. This position will report directly to the Veteran Outreach Manager. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Responsibilities:
- Serves as the primary conduit between VHA providers, VSOs, and Miramar within the Western United States
- Build and strengthen relationships with VHA referrals and additional related sources
- Locate, identify, and penetrate new VHA referral sources
- Establish and maintain close relationships with VSOs for referrals and brand management
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with current VHA referral sources including (but not limited to) Loma Linda, San Francisco, Long Beach, West LA, and Palo Alto
- Develop partnerships with key personnel such as: Social workers, Therapists, Nurses, Physicians, etc Increase the number of CCN referrals from each source
- Maintain a database of key VHA personnel within each VAMC
- Troubleshoot all areas of concern while providing exceptional customer service for all parties involved
- Establish a partnership with the clinical team to maintain an understanding of programming, housing rules, customer care, and all areas involving the coordination of care for the client
- Expand to and penetrate additional VHA markets (VAMCs)including: (but not limited to short term: Sacramento, Los Angeles, El Paso, Portland, White City, and Long-term: Long Beach, San Diego, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Denver, etc
- Identify key personnel & decision-makers within all books of business
- Engage with all client potentials while breaking down barriers to entry
- Establish, develop, and maintain sustained partnerships including the commercial insurance network and have a thorough understanding of their authorization process.
- Obtain consistent CCN referrals
- Coordinate onboarding of new VHA referral sources and prospective Veteran clients with admissions and clinical teams
- Outreach to VA System and B to B referrals – through calls/in person/email/text
- Back up on Admission Calls – carry admission phone 3-4 days a week and every other weekend
- Transportation as directed by the supervisor
- Member of community networking groups
- Member of Veteran volunteer/networking group
- Use of HSRM for authorization/RFS assistance and backup as needed * * Use of CRM/Call Rail/Daily EOD update on Top 100/EOW report to supervisor
- Presence in behavioral health and VA community events
- Ensure all training and job requirements are maintained
- Additional duties as assigned by Leadership or direct supervisor
Requirements:
- 4 years of professional experience with the Dept of Veterans Affairs or VSO preferred
- Experience as a VHA social worker, therapist, or similar is ideal, but not required
- Working knowledge of addiction and mental health, especially pertaining to Veterans
- Deep experience and background within Veteran communities and networks
- 2 years of sales and marketing experience, military recruiting experience ideal, but not required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor’s degree a plus.
