Job Overview
Join our team as a Human Resources Associate where you can make a meaningful impact on our organization while developing your career in human resources! The HR Associate assists the Human Resources Manager in administration, recruiting, onboarding, employee relations and retention. This job requires an extreme level of accuracy and attention to detail while remaining approachable and meeting all structured deadlines.
Duties
- Assists with all recruiting programs designed to bring the best talent available for Miramont Country Club to enhance Member satisfaction and reduce turnover.
- Assists with selected recruitment activities (e.g. setting up and attending Career Fairs, Hospitality Student presentations Miramont hosts, posting flyers, etc.)
- Reviews with the approval of the hiring manager, updates job descriptions for appropriate content while ensuring consistent uniformity in format.
- Prepares vacant position advertisements and announcements on online recruiting platforms as well as on social media, Miramont’s website, Brazos Valley Workforce Solution Service, Club Industry job boards and/or College Career Services.
- Sorts and reviews applications and/or résumés and passes them on to the hiring manager.
- Calls and/or emails listed references of applicants.
- Conducts first initial phone interview/screening.
- Schedules in-person interviews with the hiring manager of selected applicants.
- Assists with the onboarding process of non-exempt new hires including, but not limited to, running background checks, scheduling pre-employment drug screenings, conducting new hire paperwork orientation and verifying employment eligibility through E-Verify.
- Remains approachable and acts as a contact person for employees to voice concerns.
- Brings any complaints forward to the Human Resources Manager for resolution processing.
- Communicates general Human Resources policies to Miramont employees.
- Communicates Club Human Resources policy changes and/or training implementations to Miramont employees.
- Assists Human Resources Manager in implementing employee trainings, including but not limited to, sexual and discriminatory harassment training, general safety training, emergency drill training, etc.
- Assists the Human Resources Manager in arranging for employee education presentations, including but not limited to, New Hire Orientation, Open Enrollment/Benefits presentation, Townhall meetings, Guest Speaker Programs, etc.
- Assists the Human Resources Manager with obtaining and validating certifications (e.g. TABC, Food Handlers, CPR, etc.) to ensure all documents are on file and up-to-date/current of Miramont employees.
- Validates any manual time clock entries and edits for proper payroll processing.
- Assists the Human Resources Manager with the New Hire Incentive/Referral Program.
- Assists the Human Resources Manager in the tracking and processing of Miramont issued uniforms and any possible payroll deductions for the cost of unreturned uniform items.
- Assists the Human Resources Manager in conducting monthly random drug screening process.
- Assists the Human Resources Manager in staying in compliance with the preferred and authorized drivers of Miramont fleet vehicles.
- Creates employee recognition and promotion announcements.
- Creates the monthly employee slideshow.
- Prepares the monthly Birthday & Anniversary Cards for employees.
- Assists the Human Resources Manager in employee appreciation events.
- Proactively identify employee needs and respond to them on a timely basis.
- Establish and maintain positive Employee relations, encouraging and fostering teamwork among departments.
- Conducts exit interviews.
- Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
- Assists in the development of the employee handbook and new personnel policies and procedures.
- Follows all standards required by all applicable federal, state and other laws and regulations.
- Runs errands for the Human Resources department, including, but not limited, to purchasing items from the store, cake and/or party supply vendors, etc.
- Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as necessary.
- Completes special project tasks as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- College Education preferred.
- General knowledge of applicable employment laws and practices.
- Prior experience in Human Resources programs preferred.
- Skills in database management, record keeping and filing.
- Hotel, private club, hospitality experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Extremely strong communication skills using spoken and written words in a professional manner to members, guests and employees.
- Proficient with English grammar and possesses skills in news-style writing, feature writing,
copywriting, proofreading and editing.
- Must be able to handle stress in a healthy and professional manner.
- Must be able to complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
- Has the ability to learn new technologies as necessary.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
- Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand; walk; bend; and use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to moderate noise levels in the work environment.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to stoop or kneel to access files.
- Must be able to see the computer screen, paperwork, etc.
