At Miramont Country Club the Kitchen Steward plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for food preparation and service. This position includes washing and properly storing all cooking utensils, china, flatware, glassware, and kitchen equipment, ensuring a clean and organized environment that supports safe and efficient kitchen operations.
Duties
- Maintains a clean, organized, and hazard-free kitchen environment at all times to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Washes dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and small wares using both industrial dishwashing equipment and manual methods in accordance with standard operating procedures and food safety regulations.
- Properly sanitizes all wares, following applicable codes and guidelines.
- Polishes silverware, platters, and chafing dishes to maintain high presentation standards.
- Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment and surfaces, including stainless steel shelves, dish cabinets, ice machines, refrigerators, walk-ins, coffee stations, and prep areas.
- Maintains cleanliness of all kitchen-related spaces such as receiving areas, trash zones, and utility rooms.
- Collects and disposes of kitchen trash; empties garbage cans, washes and re-lines them daily.
- Breaks down boxes, crates, and removes all debris regularly.
- Inspects trash for misplaced items such as silverware, dishes, or glassware.
- Stores all cleaned dishes and wares in designated areas safely and efficiently.
- Maintains organization in all working areas, including tool storage and utility rooms.
- Cleans and sanitizes the dish machine and surrounding area on a scheduled basis.
- Ensures all cleaning tools and chemicals are stored safely and used according to guidelines.
- Assists with basic food prep and storage of delivered goods, including stocking coolers, freezers, and storerooms.
- Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and workstations as needed.
- Handles all china, glassware, and kitchen tools with care to minimize breakage.
- Prioritizes and expedite the cleaning of service wares to support front-of-house staff.
- Regularly inspects kitchen floors to ensure they remain clean, dry, and free of hazards.
- Sweeps and mop floors throughout kitchen and prep areas.
- Follows all sanitation protocols, including personal hygiene and food safety standards.
- Uses cleaning agents and chemicals safely and in accordance with instructions.
- Cleans and safely store all brooms, mops, and cleaning supplies.
- Participate in weekly kitchen deep cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Promptly reports any accidents, injuries, illnesses, or near-miss incidents to the supervisor or manager on duty.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support kitchen and Club operations.
Requirements
- Good attitude and highly motivated self-starter.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to handle stress in a healthy and professional manner.
- Must be able to complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
- Knowledge of and ability to use dishwasher and other kitchen equipment.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
- Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
- May need to use some protective equipment, such as non-slip shoes, apron, hat, etc..
- Food safety certification.
