Position and Qualifications Summary
Ashley Hall is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and inspiring Visual Arts teacher who serves as a catalyst for student growth. Deep knowledge of and passion for the subject, especially in the areas of painting, drawing, sculpture, and digital media instruction are essential. Embracing the school’s mission, the ideal candidate possesses the skills and determination to make a significant difference in the lives of our students.
Major Responsibilities
The ideal candidate for this position must be able to :
- Teach visual arts using an inquiry-based and project-based approach that emphasizes the studio habits of mind : observation, engagement and persistence, reflection, stretching and exploration, expression, development of craft, envisioning ideas, and understanding arts communities.
- Foster creativity and independent thinking in the classroom with particular emphasis on student-led project development and choice-based practices.
- Develop engaging lesson plans designed to foster global perspectives in art.
- Cultivate a caring classroom environment that supports the academic progress and socio-emotional development of each student.
- Share responsibilities for curriculum development as well as other departmental and divisional priorities.
- Collaborate with other faculty in grades 5-12 as needed to facilitate the transition to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) curriculum framework.
