Skillful Detailers/Drafters Sought for Precision Metalwork
Miscellaneous Metals, Inc., an award-winning specialty trade contractor, seeks talented in-house Detailers/Drafters to create and review detailed shop drawings for structural metalwork in large commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project specifications, blueprints, and technical documents to determine requirements
- Create precise shop drawings and erection plans in AutoCAD for components such as stairs, rails, and other structural elements
- Generate accurate bills of materials to support project planning and material acquisition
- Collaborate with project managers on shop drawing submittals and updates, ensuring compliance with fabrication and field practices
- Assist in cost estimating and provide input on project timelines and potential constraints
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year detailing experience in AutoCAD
- Minimum 1 year experience preparing shop drawings for miscellaneous metals, particularly in commercial construction
- Experience in construction estimating to accurately assess project requirements
- Familiarity with fabrication processes, field practices, and cost estimation is preferred
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines is preferred
- We encourage students who are studying AutoCAD with at least one year of coursework to apply; we will train the right individual

- Strong mathematical skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements
- Keen attention to detail to ensure all designs are accurate and complete

Working Conditions:
This position requires working in person in an office environment, where the Detailer will work closely with project managers, fabricators, and other team members. Standard working hours are typical, but occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
