Qualifications:  

  • Shall hold a bachelor’s degree or higher and the required Kentucky certificate for the assigned position.

  • Shall demonstrate the ability to communicate and work effectively with students, peer, parents  and faculty.

 

Job Goal:         

To assist the principal by use of leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills, to manage assigned school in such a way as to promote the safety of staff and students by ensuring a safe educational environment.

 

General Duties and Performance Responsibilities:

  • Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines.
  • Present a positive image of the school to parents, and convey to them the school’s genuine concern with the education, growth and development of each student.
  • Seek to establish friendly and cooperative partnerships between home and school.
  • Work to develop a positive public relationship between the school district and the community.
  • Carry out assignments in a timely manner without undue checking.
  • React positively to directives.
  • Have a willingness to cooperate with the superintendent, district administrators, principals, and staff.
  • Maintain the confidentiality, both verbally and in written form, of each student’s educational record.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Follow the procurement guidelines and purchase order process.
  • Adhere with federal, state and district program guidelines, policies, procedures and laws.

 

Specific Duties and Performance Responsibilities:

  • Assist the principal in daily administration of the school and assume duties of principal when principal is out of the building.
  • Assume responsibility for the implementation and observance by the school’s staff and students of all school rules, administrative regulations, Board policies, State Board of Education regulations, and the school laws of Kentucky.
  • Conducts required emergency drills; oversees school sponsored activities, including athletics, teacher meetings; oversees school exhibits, school cafeteria, summer school and evening activities in the building.
  • Assist in the development of the master schedule for student/teacher assignment.
  • Assist in development, implementation and evaluation of the (CSIP) Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.
  • Represent the school at various meetings.
  • Supervise bus and automobile traffic on school grounds.
  • Administer student discipline in a manner consistent with school and district policies and keep records of disciplinary actions.
  • Work with software program for scheduling, attendance, discipline, etc.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of curriculum as assigned.
  • Assist in setting, achieving and assessing goals related to the various school improvement processes.
  • Assist in the budget preparation and implementation.
  • Supervise student activities.
  • Assist in reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with Director of Pupil Personnel for follow-up action.
  • Assist all substitute teachers in orientation to their assigned school duty and assist the substitute.
  • Coordinates textbook and workbook orders and their distribution.
  • Maintains current leadership hours (21 hours every year.)
  • Assist in supervision and evaluation of staff.
  • Serve as designated Admission and Release Committee (ARC) chair.
  • Attend conferences, professional growth opportunities and workshops to keep current in educational practices.
  • Perform other duties as specified by the principal.

Salary and workdays to be established by the Board.

 

Evaluation:       

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified (or Classified) Personnel. 

Salary : $42,594 - $73,668
