Job Overview:
The Senior Accountant will assist in the ongoing management of the University’s detailed general ledger, budgetary records and other financial records through the application of comprehensive accounting practices and generally accepted accounting principles. This position will assist in implementing and maintaining procedures associated with the University’s annual operating and strategic budgets, and direct, an internal audit function to ensure compliance with sound fiscal practices across the University. The position also supervises two Staff Accountants and will provide support for other Finance Office functions as the need arises.
Related Duties:
Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as required.

Work-Related Knowledge:
A thorough understanding of general ledger accounting practices, and generally accepted accounting principles
Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting standards, preferably in higher education, is strongly desired.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with individuals possessing varying levels of accounting and budgeting knowledge is required.
Proficiency in financial software (general ledger, query, database).
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Master's degree (M.A., M.S.) in Accounting or a related business field is desirable.
Experience:
A minimum of six years of experience in accounting, business planning or operations or financial analysis is required. Grant accounting experience beneficial.
Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
Salary : $59,000 - $87,000
