Position Overview
The Dean of Student Life is an inspiring educator and leader who provides visionary direction for student life at Miss Hall’s School. The Dean spearheads the design and delivery of mission-aligned and innovative programs that develop vision, voice, interpersonal efficacy and gumption and promote a joyful and connected student experience. The Dean oversees athletics, co-curricular activities, residential life, discipline, and supervises the student life team. The Dean of Student Life reports directly to the Head of School and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team, helping to set strategic vision and advance the implementation of MHS strategic priorities. A strong communicator and connector, the Dean is an advocate for girl-centered education and a passionate steward of the mission and values of the School.
Located on 80 acres in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, Miss Hall’s currently enrolls 205 girls in grades 9-12, with students from 23 countries and 11 states learning and living together as global citizens. Approximately 70 percent of Miss Hall’s students board, and 40 percent of our student body is international. In terms of race and ethnicity, MHS students self-identify as: White: 59 percent, Asian: 30 percent, Bi/Multiracial: 12 percent, Black: 10 percent, and Hispanic/Latino/a/x: 7 percent. All MHS students continue on to institutions of higher learning.

- Lead in the design and delivery of innovative, girls-centered student life programs
- Oversee residential and day student life, grade-level activities, and all school traditions
- Supervise co-curricular program leaders – athletics, student leadership, class coordinators, weekend activities, and residential life
- Provide framework and oversight for student discipline, with emphasis on restorative practices
- Serve on Senior Leadership Team and provide strategic vision and direction for MHS
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred
- At least 5 years of experience in education; secondary school experience strongly preferred
- At least 3 years of experience in leadership, including supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience leading and working with a globally diverse population
- Knowledge of best practices in high school pedagogy, with girl-centered lens
- Excellent collaboration, communication, facilitation and organizational skills
