The Academic Skills Center (ASC) promotes academic, cognitive, and personal growth in all students and is a resource for the adult members of the school community as well. The ASC operates on a fee-free model, so that all students have access to the services the Center provides. The Director of the Academic Skills Center is a collaborative, mission-aligned educator, who works with the Dean of Teaching and Learning to develop and implement the ASC’s innovative program. The Director participates in the development of the school’s academic curriculum and works in partnership with other MHS educators to provide individualized academic support and meet the needs of all students.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Course work in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience working as a learning specialist, particularly those with learning differences such as ADHD, dyslexia, or executive function challenges.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a leadership or program coordinator role.
  • Expertise in various learning differences, neurodiversity, and strategies for accommodation.
  • Experience with interpreting the results of psychoeducational evaluations and creating action plans for students based on recommendations.
  • Familiarity with legal requirements such as 504 Plans, IEPs, and ADA compliance in education.
  • Experience working with assistive technology and implementing current best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Awareness of parenting styles and ability to effectively respond to familial needs and concerns across cultures
  • Willingness to participate in interdisciplinary and innovative curricular design and partnership
  • Demonstrated interest in and commitment to working with students of varied academic levels and interests.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and to serving a diverse, global community
