Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service:
- Greet and welcome customers as they enter the cafe.
- Take customer orders in person or over the phone, providing suggestions on the menu.
- Answer any customer questions regarding menu items, specials, and dietary restrictions.
- Ensure customers are satisfied with their meals and provide assistance if needed.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and work toward resolving issues quickly.
- Food and Beverage Preparation:
- Prepare and serve food and beverages according to the cafe’s standards and recipes.
- Make specialty drinks such as coffee, espresso-based drinks, smoothies, or teas.
- Ensure food presentation is consistent with the cafe’s aesthetic.
- Follow proper food safety and cleanliness protocols when handling ingredients, food storage, and equipment.
- Cash Handling and Register Operation:
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process customer transactions (cash, credit, mobile payments).
- Handle money and provide accurate change.
- Ensure that the register is balanced at the end of each shift.
- Assist with the opening and closing of the cash register as needed.
- Store Cleanliness and Organization:
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the front-of-house, kitchen, and dining areas.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as wiping down tables, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Ensure all equipment is clean and in good working condition.
- Keep the cafe environment welcoming and inviting for customers.
- Food Stocking and Inventory:
- Assist with restocking food, drinks, and supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure there is enough stock for the day’s needs.
- Communicate any shortages or supply issues to the manager.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist with training new staff as needed.
- Support other areas of the cafe during peak hours and help with tasks such as food prep, dishwashing, or seating customers.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of customers.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and labeling of food items.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Customer Service Skills: Must be friendly, approachable, and focused on creating a positive customer experience.
- Food and Beverage Knowledge: Familiarity with preparing coffee, espresso-based drinks, or other cafe menu items is preferred.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with others in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy in taking orders, preparing food and drinks, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Time Management: Ability to handle multiple tasks at once, especially during busy hours.
