What are the responsibilities and job description for the Relief Veterinarian position at Mission Animal Hospital?
We are seeking relief veterinarian partners to help us increase capacity to serve our wonderful patients and clients!

What we can offer:
- $1,000/10 hour shift with built-in 1 hour lunch break/catch up time (if you prefer to set your own rates, we are open to this discussion!)
- Shifts available seeing appointments or urgent care
- Assigned staff to include one veterinary technician and one veterinary assistant
- Multiple shifts available per week (weekdays and weekends), select your preferred shifts
The ideal candidate would:
- Commit to 1 day/week through 2025 (though happy to be flexible with planned time away), follow-up on send out labwork during shift hours
- Be willing to practice spectrum of care medicine and commit to excellence in client communication
Responsibilities:
- Examine and treat animals on a first-come, first-serve basis as well as by appointment
- Exercise good judgment and creative problem-solving in recommending treatment to clients with income limitations
- Prioritize traumatic injuries and serious illnesses to ensure all animals receive time sensitive care
- Educate clients on the importance of vaccinations, heartworm treatments, flea and tick treatments and other aspects of preventive care
- General patient monitoring and care
- Perform diagnostic tests and x-rays
- Prepare estimates for patient treatment
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments
- Observe and make decisions on the behavior and condition of animals
- Communicate important discharge instructions with clients and recommend follow-up visits
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), or equivalent degree
- Developed communication skills, professionalism, and ability to collaborate with a team
- Commitment to hospital core values of compassionate, accessible care
