Dock Attendant Job DescriptionJob Summary:
The DockAttendant is an essential position within the company. The Dock Attendant will greet, instruct, assist, and provide direction and information to customers for rental services and waterways.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Greets and welcomes customers with positive, friendly attitude
- Check customers out and in from boat outings
- Performs Safety check with customers based on rental
- Instruct customers on all rentals such as sailing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, peddle boats and power equipment.
- Solid knowledge of surrounding water ways and provides guidance to customers
- Review current weather and brief customers on weather conditions
- Understand rentals capabilities, systems, amenities, and equipment
- Conduct vessel servicing inspection prior to each launch (oil/fuel/steer/trim/coolant)
- Inspect bilge prior to launch (water level/fluids/physical damage/noise/leaks)
- Fuel boats, wash and detail boats; Maintain boat batteries (test/replace)
- Respect neighboring businesses and staff to ensure good working relationships
- Operate all vessels confidently around waterways and fuel pumps
- Assist with servicing and maintenance of rentals
- Assist with inspection/replacement of props
- Performs other duties as required
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Upon hire, completion of boating license. Valid Driver’s license required.
- Proven skills or the willingness to be trained in administration, seamanship, communication, safety, and waterways operations.
- A positive attitude combined with the ability to communicate fluently and relate well to members in the aquatic environment and the ability to manage and motivate self and other dock attendants.
- An eye for detail in all aspects of work and awareness of cost of business
- Proficient swimmer
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Sailing experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to assist customers in and out rentals if help is needed.
- Able to maintain attention and high level of energy for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to spend majority the of time outdoors and tolerate a variety of weather conditions.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $16.50 - $20.00 per hour
