Our client is seeking a highly skilled Structural Design Engineer to join their team and contribute to the design and development of structural components for process plants. This position focuses on designing steel structures, pipe racks, and other key structural elements, performing stress analyses, and collaborating with vendors and internal teams to ensure project success. The role is onsite and requires expertise in structural design software and adherence to industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Design steel cold box structures, pipe racks, and structural elements for process plants.
- Create detailed plan, section, and elevation drawings for vendor bid packages and fabrication.
- Perform stress analyses to validate structural designs.
- Develop shipping and lifting requirements for equipment ranging from 5 to 500 metric tons.
- Review vendor drawings and specifications, providing technical recommendations.
- Ensure all designs comply with AISC standards.
- Participate in training programs, seminars, and online courses to enhance skills.
- Ensure projects adhere to schedule and budgetary requirements.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, showcasing leadership and communication skills.
- Resolve technical project issues and provide quality recommendations.
- Report directly to the Mechanical Design Department Manager.
Must Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized technical institute.
- Proficiency in CADWorx 3D and AutoCAD or BricsCAD design software.
- Basic understanding of pipe stress and pipe supports.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment across multiple disciplines.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with cryogenic piping, cold boxes, and the industrial gases industry.
- Proficiency in structural design software such as Robot, Tekla, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of Hilti design software and RAM Connection software.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
Location: Bedminster, New Jersey
Salary: $96,000 to $106,000
