What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plumbing Project Manager position at Mission Mechanical?
Job Summary:
Project managers are responsible for planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. Project managers assist in planning and designating project resources, preparing budgets, monitoring progress, and keeping the management team informed throughout the process. Project managers are responsible for the communication between the Mission Mechanical and its customers and vendors.
Essential Functions:
- Manages projects to come in at/under the budget set by the management team.
- Attends monthly project budgeting meetings with the management team.
- Manages all essential communication—verbal or written—with the customer.
- Reviews contracts and confirms the scope of work within the contract reflects the estimator’s submitted scope.
- Follows up on the submittal process to ensure all products are submitted and approved by the customer.
- Reviews and comprehends all aspects of assigned projects, including, associated plans, specifications, submittals, details, job schedules, etc.
- Schedules pre-construction meetings with estimators, field supervisors, and division managers to review scope and mapping of labor for project success.
- Reviews all purchase orders previously issued by estimators, including but not limited to, vendors, cost codes, quantities, etc.
- Manages releasing and shipping dates for all pre-approved material.
- Assists field supervisor and lead installer in determining the accuracy of plans submitting RFI’s, as needed.
- Communicates with customer and field supervisor to ensure the labor is scheduled and coordinated appropriately
- Coordinates all aspects of subcontractor relationship including contract discussion and approval, schedule, approval of work in progress billings, etc.
- Visits all job sites weekly, evaluating production, workmanship, and team morale.
- Attends job site meetings and represents Mission positively and professionally to maintain a positive working relationship.
- Prepares accurate monthly pay application worksheets in advance of billing date for processing by accounts receivable department.
- Completes monthly billing forecast for all projects.
- Manages and processes all change orders and approvals from a customer on time.
- Attends weekly production meetings providing accurate updates on budget vs. actual hours, outstanding issues, delays, and change orders.
- Oversees project closeout process including as-builts, owners manuals, warranty letter, open change orders, closing out the committed cost, etc.
- Verifies accurate pay applications have been submitted, including outstanding change orders and retainage.
- Continued follow-up on project status with the customer throughout the warranty period.
- Answers for any tasking item over budget in monthly project review.
Education/Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
- Plumbing certification, professional license, or credentials REQUIRED!
- Minimum of 5 years in project management experience in the commercial construction field REQUIRED!
- Knowledge of plumbing code REQUIRED!
- Safety oriented experience preferred
- BlueBeam software knowledge/experience preferred
- Procore software knowledge/experience preferred
- AutoCAD software knowledge/experience preferred
- Microsoft Office Suite knowledge preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related fields preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- Dependable Transportation

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
