Position Purpose
Manages the day-to-day healthcare operations of the community to ensure residents’ healthcare needs are met. The RSD will participate as a member of the community management team in planning, policy formulation, and administrative decision making with attention to the role, functions, and operations of the community’s nursing services. The position is responsible for resident care, management, resource management, and fiscal management.
Supervisory Responsibility: Manages up to 50 employees
Budget Responsibility: $2MM - $5MM
Essential Job Functions – Principal Accountabilities
- Responsible for managing, directing, and supervising all nursing functions.
- Responsible for staff performance, staff recruitment, staff retention, and staff development.
- Defines and maintains the standards of nursing practice in the community.
- Evaluates the quality of care rendered.
- Initiates the development of policies and procedures that govern nursing services and other services under his or her supervision.
- Verifies employee credentials under his or her position supervision.
- Collaborates with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved resident care and staff development.
- Plans, develops, and implements a budget process for staffing and services rendered.
- Evaluates the quality and cost-effectiveness of staffing and services within the goals of the community.
- Serves as a spokesperson for nursing matters and represents the community with professional nursing and related organizations.
- Participates in meetings and committees.
- Encourages and supports research and improvement studies that can make meaningful contributions to the quality and economy of nursing services.

Minimum Requirements
Education: Associate degree in nursing, or equivalent, is required.
Experience: At least three years of supervisory experience in a nursing environment is required.
Certification/License: Florida Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing is required. Candidates are required to attain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days after hire. State background check standards must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
