Salary
The hourly range for this position is $32.93 - $49.40. The starting salary is determined based on the position market value, individual candidate education and experience, and internal equity.
Job Description
We are seeking an electro-mechanical technologist to join our team in North Las Vegas, Nevada. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining vacuum systems associated with multiple regions of the Scorpius accelerator.
- Collaborate with engineers, physicists, and technologists from the labs and the NNSS to install and operate Scorpius and possibly Z-pinch Experiment Underground System (ZEUS), high-energy x-ray and neutron generating devices, along with associated diagnostics systems and detector systems.
- Frequent travel to New Mexico to assemble, test, and align cells and modules of the Scorpius linear induction accelerator ultimately being installed at the Principal Underground Laboratory for Subcritical Experiments (PULSE) at the NNSS.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- An associate degree in a field related to the position or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years progressive experience in the use of basic and powered hand tools, laboratory instrumentation such as digitizing storage, DVMs, and oscilloscopes.
- Experience working in a team environment that includes scientists, engineers, technicians, and designers.
- Ability to work underground and under minimal supervision in a dynamic multidisciplinary project environment.
- A valid driver's license.
