Join our HII Mission Technologies team– We work on the only shipyard to execute the Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. The mid-life RCOH includes refueling of nuclear reactors, overhauling most machinery, and modernizing warfare systems. RCOH ensures the Navy's aircraft carriers incorporate improved capabilities needed for success in the remaining 25 years of service. Your accomplishments will make a positive impact supporting the U.S. Navy and America’s national defense! We are seeking a Master Tradesperson 4 (Welder) to join our growing team. The selected candidate will be responsible for operating, maintaining and training customer personnel on facility industrial plant equipment, Lathes, Milling Machines, horizontal and vertical band saws, drill presses, and sheet metal bending equipment.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Master understanding of production and processes. Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others. May provide direction and lead others. May manage one or more multiple jobs. Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools. Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks. Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. May perform quality inspections on finished product. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of electrical experience.
- Current TIG and Stick welding certification.
- Able to work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts or work orders as well as written and verbal instruction.
- Production welder experience while in the Navy or working as a civilian production welder supporting Navy ship repair or new construction.
- Ability to train Naval personal on proper procedure on blueprint reading, and train on use of different welding and cutting equipment.
Must have the ability to make repairs on:
- Water tight doors.
- Hatches and scuttles
- Repair of door, hatch and scuttle gasket retainer areas
- Replacement of door wedges.
- Non water tight door repair
- Non water tight door kick panel replacement
- Must be able to maintain all associated welding and cutting equipment
- Must be qualified to weld mild steel and aluminum
