Middle School Migrant Summer School Teachers (*3 Positions)

Location: Mission View Elementary

Grades: 6-8

Mandatory Training Days: June 17 & 18, 2025

School Days:  June 23-July 24, 2025 Mon-Thu*

Work Hours: 7:30 am -12:30 pm

*No School: Thu July 3

Additional time allowed for supervision of field trip

Salary: Per Diem

  

Responsibilities:

  • Use known best practices in lesson planning and execution in working with students that have been identified as being most at-risk due to mobility and other factors affecting Migrant qualified students.
  • Collaborate with the summer school principal to create and lead experiential learning trips based on a central theme.
  • Establish and maintain positive and encouraging relationships with all students and staff.  
  • Collect and use data to inform instruction, complete grant requirements and administer testing.
  • Create a safe and positive classroom environment using strong management skills. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
  • Attendance and punctuality are critical. 
  • Supervise learning trips (may extend past school hours).
  • Participate in parent engagment activities.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements.
  • Experience working with elementary or middle-school-aged students.
  • Computer skills preferred (email, word processing).
  • Bilingual/bi-literate preferred (English/Spanish).
  • Strong human relation skills for working well with faculty and staff. 
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Ability to work in noisy and crowded environments.
  • Ability to endure prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Current Wenatchee School District teaching preferred.
  • Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD®) training preferred. 
  • The inclusion of GLAD strategies in classroom teaching.
  • The desire to teach reading through an integrated GLAD® unit, math problem-solving, computer interventions, and/or art.
  • The desire to build a community of learners where all feel valued.

Disclosure Statement and Record Check:  Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI.  Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
