What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Assistant (Support Care Professional III) position at Mississippi Adolescent Center / BRC?
Qualifications or Skill Required:
Third-level Support Care position accountable for taking vital signs, assisting with care plan activities, observing and reporting patient conditions and behaviors, and participating in rehabilitation, ambulation, and transfers. May mentor or direct the work of lower-level employees. Communicates with doctors, patients, and families, and educates patients on care. May provide transport to offsite appointments and application of restraints when necessary.
Education/Expereince:
Typically requires High School Diploma or high school equivalency, and 2-3 years of experience. May require a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) designation.
Responsibilities but not limited to:
· Produce and preform recreational actives for students during class times: Monday - Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm each week.
· Produce monthly calendar, weekly, daily lesson plan documents and submit to the Recreational Supervisor
· Produce materials needed for the activities through the Recreational Supervisor
· Assist the Recreational Supervisor with special events/activities
· Assist in assigned dorms during that dorm’s lunch Monday – Friday
· Communicate with the RLS Director for all request leave, tardies, early out, calling out
· Observe, monitor, and care for individuals with IDD needs
· Interacts with clients to build rapport and provide emotional support
· Interacts with individuals or groups in appropriate active treatment, therapeutic programming, leisure activities and behavior management within the facility and on planned outings
· Collect, compile, and analyze various forms of behavioral data to help determine assessment needs
· Ability to enter and access data from various computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access Database)
· Intervene and assist clients with de-escalating when crisis and non-crisis situations occur
· Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Client Services Director
· Subject to late days as assigned
