What are the responsibilities and job description for the Switchboard Operator position at Mississippi Adolescent Center / BRC?
Characteristics of Work:
This is proficiency level work involving skilled operation of phone console system. Fundamental duties include the processing of incoming and outgoing telephone calls, the maintenance of logs, and the performance of clerical tasks related to switchboard operation. Employee’s job also entails contact with agency visitors and the communication of factual information requiring a thorough knowledge of agency operations. General supervision is received from an administrative superior.
Examples of work performed in this classification include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Answers incoming calls, route calls to appropriate extension taking messages when staff are unavailable
· Greets visitors and serves as a receptionist
· Log client visitors/family members and contact dorms to notify staff of visitor
· Ensure vehicle sign out logs are completed
· Give potential hires applications
· Process applications: check references, make copies of social security card, education, etc
· Monitor fire panel
· Log client/staff counts for emergency drills
· Attends and participates in all related in-service training sessions
· Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Director
Experience/Educational Requirements:
Typically requires High School Diploma or equivalent and 0-1 years of experience.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $12.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
