What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Inspector position at Mississippi Home Corporation?
Mississippi Home Corporation seeks a candidate for the role of Building Inspector. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting on-site physical inspections of affordable housing developments and reporting areas of noncompliance in accordance with MHC protocol. Inspections primarily pertain to those affordable housing developments financed under the Federal Housing Tax Credit Program, the Mississippi Affordable Housing Development Fund and the FDIC Affordable Housing Program.
The idea candidate will possess knowledge of residential construction, be familiar with HUD housing quality standards, HUD Uniform Physical Condition Standards, the Southern Building Code, and Fair Housing Accessibility and Lead-based Paint guidelines. The candidate will have a working knowledge of computers and computer software programs and have the capacity to learn new programs.
The ideal candidate must possess a strong work ethic, organizational skills, detail oriented, and the professional capacity to interact with individuals of diverse populations and from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
The ability to work independently and as a part of a team is imperative.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in public policy and administration, business, urban planning or a related field, or a high school diploma/equivalent and at least three (3) years of verifiable experience as an inspector or contractor with a background in construction.
There is no supervisory obligation with this position.
Travel is required; some overnight instances. Incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to present proof of minimum auto insurance coverage. (Corporate vehicles are available for travel.)
