Position Summary:
The Manager on Duty (MOD) will oversee, and direct Clerk and Lead workflows as needed during shift to ensure that the stores needs are being met in Produce, Center Store, Deli, Meat, Front End and Housekeeping as well as serving as the manager on duty in absence of the Store Director or Assistant Store Director. The position supports the Store Director in ensuring excellent customer outcomes, effective conflict resolution, strong team leadership, a positive and safe work environment, organized and efficient operations, a visually appealing space, and sound financial outcomes.
Their main duties include customer service, store conditioning, team leadership and engagement, health and staff safety, operations, and merchandising support, and creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for staff and customers.
Location: 1500 West 7th Street, Saint Paul, MN 55102
Schedule: Sunday, Monday, or Friday & Saturday: 1:30-9:30pm; potential of 1-2 additional shifts throughout week. Flexibility required to meet business needs.
Qualifications:
- Customer Service: Proven ability to provide excellent customer service; engage with customers and staff in a friendly and welcoming manner, actively listen, understand needs, address questions, and provide solutions; skilled at and committed to resolving customer and staff concerns
- Supervision: Supervisory experience including development, training, coaching, and performance management, in grocery, retail or related environment
- Initiative: Ability to proactively assess situations, anticipate store and department needs; the ability to be actively engaged on the sales floor addressing observed business needs as they arise address
- Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to be flexible and quickly adjust to changing needs of store operations; the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure in all situations
- Communication: Proven ability to remain calm, professional, and optimistic during challenging situations; ability to actively listen and effectively express ideas, goals, policies, changes, and feedback; demonstrated self-awareness including understanding the impact of verbal and non-verbal communication on stakeholders; proven ability to resolve conflict and disagreements in a constructive and positive manner
- Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders to ensure smooth daily operations across departments, ensuring daily priorities and activities align with the goals of store; ability to communicate information consistently to store leadership on tasks, ongoing issues, staff performance, and opportunities

Preferred Qualifications:

Physical and Working Requirements:
The position involves frequent stationary tasks, along with regular movement within the grocery, front end, deli, and storage areas. Frequent positioning is required to access both low and high shelving, equipment, and products. The job also entails the frequent movement of containers weighing up to 60 lbs. MODs frequently handle grocery, produce, and deli items and may occasionally ascend/descend a ladder to reach high shelving. MODs will utilize various equipment including but not limited to a POS system, knives, pallet jack, a baler, computers, and printers. This role requires exchanging accurate information in person, over the phone, and through email and other written communication. MODs will occasionally work in a walk-in cooler and be exposed to sanitizer, cleaning products, and loud noises, and may be designated as staff to be contacted in emergency situations. This position requires an individual to be at least 18 years old.
