What are the responsibilities and job description for the ASC PACU NURSE position at Mississippi Sports Medicine?
The Pre-Op / PACU Nurse will provide quality care to surgical patients via monitoring, assessment, intervention, and medication administration in the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Flowood. The Pre-Op / PACU Nurse will collaborate with coworkers to achieve departmental goals and objectives in accordance with established policies.
Responsibilities :
- Assess, instruct, and prepare patients prior to surgery
- Perform safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate postoperative / post-anesthesia period
- Ensure operative and informed consents are signed and correct
- Assess patients and take / record vital signs to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
- Initiate IV's and ensure patients are informed about the procedures
- Document all findings in the patient's chart
- Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
- Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physicians
- Maintains professional competence by participating in continuing education and other learning experiences
- Continued assessment of post-surgical patients to determine readiness to discharge
- Educate the patient / family member on the procedure and follow-up care
- Other duties as assigned by the department lead
