What are the responsibilities and job description for the ASC PROCEDURE ROOM NURSE position at Mississippi Sports Medicine?
The Procedure Room Nurse will provide quality care to procedure room patients via monitoring, assessment, intervention, and medication administration in the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Flowood. The Procedure Room Nurse will collaborate with coworkers to achieve departmental goals and objectives in accordance with established policies.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, instruct, and prepare patients prior to Pain Management procedures as well as local anesthetic procedures
- Perform safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate postoperative/post-anesthesia period
- Ensure operative and informed consents are signed and correct
- Assess patients and take/record vital signs to ensure readiness for procedure
- Initiate IV’s and ensure patients are informed about the procedures
- Document all findings in the patient’s chart
- Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
- Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physicians
- Maintains professional competence by participating in continuing education and other learning experiences
- Continued assessment of post-procedure patients to determine readiness to discharge
- Educate the patient/family member on the procedure and follow-up care
- Other duties as assigned by the department lead
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nursing License – licensed to work in MS
- Must possess general clinical competency in acute patient care
- Must demonstrate aptitude for maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters
- Must demonstrate the ability to gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative care
- Nursing experience in a perioperative setting preferred
- Documentation of current BLS certification (ACLS and PALS preferred)
This position works Monday - Friday, 7:00 - 3:30, with 5:00 pm end times as scheduled
