Summary
This position will be responsible for purchasing, which includes ensuring that all material is ordered, received, and verified in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Closely work with engineering and sales to verify costing is accurate and materials are ordered in a timely manner. Take ownership of inventory control by assigning standardized part numbers to materials, initiating cycle counts, and maintaining accurate inventory amounts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Lead purchasing function by developing and executing procurement strategies, and selecting reliable vendors and suppliers
- Use Bill of Materials (BOM) to order materials and parts for job and sales orders
- Evaluate and negotiate contracts with the vendors/suppliers, and make counter offers as necessary to establish competitive pricing
- Coordinate inventory processes by assigning standardized part numbers to materials, initiating cycle counts, organizing inventory, and maintaining accurate inventory amounts
- Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors to achieve OEM pricing
- Provide purchasing and inventory reporting to management as needed
- Work closely with sales and engineering to provide accurate cost on material and parts
- Sell replacement parts to customers and manage all parts related warranty issues
- Print PO receiving paperwork to prepare for the receipt of orders
- Verify paperwork from receivers matches purchase orders and investigate differences
- Enter all receipts of inventory and consumables into the ERP system.
- Negotiate over the counter sales with current and new customers ensuring that all customer onboarding procedures are followed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or the equivalent work experience
- Minimum of two years procurement work experience (preferred)
- Minimum of two years management or related leadership experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of and experience with ERP software (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and negotiating skills
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to complete tasks on time
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Outlook and other relevant databases
- Ability to work both independently and with a team
- Forklift Experience
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing Principles
