- Secure exterior and interior doors of campus buildings
- Walk through buildings and parking lots
- Lock perimeter gates
- Provide security escorts
- Provide security stand-bys
- Monitor campus property for potential safety issues
- Assist patrol officers with calls for service
- Perform foot and vehicle patrols of campus to monitor behavior, buildings, and property and communicates necessary campus safety information to the University Police Department
- Open and secure rooms and buildings at the request of authorized individuals
- Maintain radio communication with other safety personnel and officers on campus
- Write and submit incident reports to assigned supervisor or law enforcement officer
- Assist with crowd control and/or directing traffic during special events
- Work in stressful situations and de-escalate potential violent activity
- Perform other assigned work-related duties as required
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; some college or technical school coursework and/or practical knowledge required
- Requires at least one year of experience in a customer service or security services
- Must be available to work rotating shifts (including nights and weekends), outdoors, and in a variety of assignments including foot, vehicle
- Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion. Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, etc.
- Job requires sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting, walking, reaching, climbing, talking, hearing and handling objects
- Must be in good physical condition
- Demonstrate vigilance for safety and deterrence of criminal activity
- Ability to work within a team and foster professionalism in job assignments
- Valid Driver's License required
- Obtain CPR certification within 90 days of employment
