Job Summary:
This position supervises trimming activities and trims trees to clear right-of-way for electric power lines, minimizing storm and short-circuit hazards. The role requires dependable, confidential, and professional work performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise Tree Trimming Crew:
- Directs and supervises tree trimming crew to ensure work is completed according to industry safety standards.
- Maintains accurate pole line inspection logs and other related documentation.
- Climbs trees to reach branches interfering with wires and transmission towers.
- Prunes treetops, repairs damaged trees by trimming jagged stumps and painting them to prevent sap bleeding.
- Removes broken limbs from non-energized power line wires.
- Fells trees interfering with power service.
- Loads trees and branches to haul away and operates chipper to dispose of limbs and branches.
- Represents the Cooperative, communicates with property owners and the general public in a professional manner, answering questions and addressing concerns.
- Ensures all properties where trimming has taken place are left clean and in their original condition.
Operational Duties:
- Works from a bucket of the extended truck boom to reach limbs.
- Drives vehicles and operates equipment safely.
- Maintains and properly uses assigned trucks, equipment, and tools.
- Reports any known hazardous conditions affecting the crew or public.
Safety and Compliance:
- Becomes familiar with and keeps current with MEC objectives and applicable policies.
- Adheres to all applicable policies outlined in the Safety Manual.
Superisory Responsibilities:
- Manages Right of Way Crew in assigned areas.
- Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and safety of assigned employees.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities by the organization's policies and applicable laws.
