What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Information Analyst position at Missouri Behavioral Health Council?
The Health Information Analyst is a position with the Missouri Behavioral Health Council’s (MBHC) Health Information Team. The candidate will work onsite with the rest of the MBHC’s team located in Jefferson City. This position will be responsible for learning how data is collected within our care coordination system, building reports within that system, and building queries and analyses using the data that feeds into our data warehouse. This position will also assist the health information team troubleshoot help desk tickets that are reported on our care coordination system. The ideal candidate will be skilled in SQL or Oracle, be familiar with Microsoft reporting tools or SAS, and have a background in working with healthcare data.
The Health Information Analyst will work closely with the health information team to help support Missouri Behavioral Health Council staff and its members by performing data analytics for statewide programs and initiatives, including but not limited to :
- Collecting or extracting data from various databases.
- Compiling, interpreting, and analyzing data using statistical techniques.
- Creating reports and summaries in a meaningful and easy-to-understand format for various audiences and presenting that data.
- Keeping documentation that allows stakeholders to understand the steps of the data analysis process and duplicate or replicate the analysis.
- Troubleshooting data integrity issues and analyzing data for completeness.
- Identifying / creating efficiencies in data collection and reporting.
- Explaining findings to stakeholders and partners for quality assurance and improvement processes.
- Collaborating with other MBHC team members and partners to identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Assisting other MBHC team members in support of clinical, health information, and technology initiatives.
- Assisting with help desk tickets for our care coordination tool.
- Supporting MBHC program managers and provider staff by providing data to evaluate programs, find care gaps, and advocate on our providers’ behalf.
- Seeking and participating in professional development opportunities necessary for advanced analytics.
- Representing the MBHC in a positive and professional manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree, 1-3 years of relevant experience, appropriate certification, or postgraduate education in a related field.
Salary range is $50,000 - $75,000 DOQ.
