What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Manager position at Missouri Dental Association?
PURPOSE
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to maintenance of financial systems for a statewide association and its affiliated organizations. In coordination with the Executive Director, this position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements, a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, yearend audit preparation and the support of budget activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Daily QuickBooks entries and reconciliation of accounts receivable and payable
- Verifying the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records.
- Enter data to maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable).
- Enters data into computer system using defined computer programs (QuickBooks).
- Compile data and prepare a variety of reports.
- Reconciles records with association executive management, or external vendors or customers.
- Investigates questionable data and recommends actions to resolve discrepancies.
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Ensure an accurate and timely reporting of all monthly, quarterly and yearend close.
- Ensure necessary banking transactions and bank compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Cross train on membership renewals and human resources.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
- BA/BS in Accounting or Business.
Technical Skills and Prior Experience
- Experience in financial reporting/general ledger area.
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks accounting system preferred.
- Must be PC proficient with experience using Microsoft Excel
- Strong interpersonal (team) and customer service skills required.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
