Summary: The Accountant I performs specialized and confidential administrative duties, which often require independent judgment and decision making and computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Management of Accounts Payable-Responsible for reviewing invoices to substantiate allowable business transactions and ensure correct allocation to federal and/or state grants and contracts.
- Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records, and review for accuracy.
- Responsible for processing employee expense reimbursement requests.
- Manage corporate operating leases, bonds, and insurance.
- Responsible for reviewing invoices against purchase orders.
- Responsible for keeping an up-to-date inventory of all office furnishings, equipment, and keys.
- Assists employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts and bank statements with various registers.
Education and Experience: One to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
