Summary
The Nurse is primarily responsible for the implementation of medically related procedures for Missouri Girls Town Foundation. The nurse will provide direction and supervision to residential staff regarding the routine and continuous health care for all clients.
This position demonstrates commitment to the mission, vision and values of the agency by engaging in respectful, cooperative relationships with clients, coworkers and external stakeholders; being accountable for providing services and ensuring safety to clients with empowering clients in achieving the agency’s mission.
The Nurse must be able to work independently in primary assigned tasks but refer to Executive Director with questions and concerns with other responsibilities.
Responsibilities
1. Medical Administration and Support
· Develop and revise medically related procedures for Missouri Girls Town with collaboration from clinical and residential supervisors.
2. Program and Service Delivery
· Attends new client admission and adheres to licensing and Missouri Girls Town medical procedure for new admits.
· Triage all client medical needs timely and compassionately.
· Actively participate in the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care for patients. Consult with clients, staff, and health care providers to help formulate and implement effective medical treatment plans.
· Schedule psychiatric appointments and oversee transportation and client attendance.
· Attend scheduled meetings to communicate client medical treatment, medical concerns and data collection reports
3. Facilities Medical Management
· Keep records as required by Missouri Girls Town and contracts. Document all client interactions in Nursing Notes in Client Medical Database to include physician orders.
· Ensure all new and refill medications are ordered when needed and documented on master Medication Log.
· Update Accuflo and ensure house staff is aware of the changes for best and timely client medical treatment.
· Review med carts to ensure safe and proper storage of medications, adequate supplies and the removal of expired mediations.
· Ensure expired and discontinued medications are destroyed per Missouri Girls Town procedure.
· Ensure McClain campus and fleet are stocked with First Aid supplies and re-stocked as necessary.
4. Supervisory Management
· Develop and prepare material, teach and provide in-service training to staff regarding medication certification.
· Dedicate time to spend in houses to ensure proper medication distribution to all new medication certification employees and at random for tenured employees.
