Missouri Highlands Health Care is seeking a Mobile Dental Receptionist/Dental Assistant Float
Position Identification:
The mobile dental receptionist/dental assistant float will be directly supervised by the Dental outreach Coordinator and the Dental Office Manager. Their primary clinic will be the Mobile Dental Clinic (MDC), utilizing both reception and dental assistant skills. During Summer months and/or weeks that the MDC is not out they will float to other Missouri Highlands dental clinics as assigned by the Dental Office Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- General- familiar with all software systems for employee and patient care (EDR, timecard system, emailing system etc.)
- Professionalism- comply with directions from Dentist, Dental Outreach Coordinator, and Dental Director in all duties. Additionally, comply with all policies found in the MHHC employee handbook.
- Reception- prepare and manage patient schedules for all dental outreach programs. Oversee referral process for outreach programs.
- Send and receive appropriate consent packets from participating entities.
- Retain and organize consent packets based on outlined procedures for each of the different outreach programs.
- Produce patient schedules that reflect the nature of each specific outreach program, participating staff, patient needs and clinic setting to be utilized.
- Complete each patient file to its entirety in the EDR.
- Obtain, check, and keep current each patient’s insurance and/or slide fee status.
- Check Cyber Access for outreach participants.
- Be familiar with each specific outreach program and unique coding or processes that may be utilized and billed out.
- Access individual treatment plans, comprehend existing treatment plans created by clinical staff, effectively explain treatment needs to patients/parents/guardians, and schedule treatment at appropriate clinic and/or make appropriate referral as documented.
- Process all referrals made for each specific outreach program.
- Work with MHHC billing department to understand proper billing practices are in place, based on what is outlined for each specific outreach program.
- Manage calls from participating entities, patients and/or parents/guardians regarding general inquiries.
- Chair Side Dental- Assist the Dentist in all aspects of providing patient care during a patient visit.
- Review patient chart and treatment plan to ensure appropriate treatment has been scheduled for the appointment and discussed.
- Pre-charting procedures-escort patients to and from dental operatory, capture patient vitals, review and update patient documents for completion and accuracy.
- Assist in charting-update and input medical history, dental charting, dental procedure codes, and adding all necessary information gathered in the patient clinical note.
- Direct patient care-assist in all aspects or dental care with diagnostic, restorative, fixed and removable prosthetics, oral surgery, periodontics/hygiene, and endodontic procedures.
- Sterilization- clean room and equipment throughout office as needed. Clean and sterilize instruments and is well informed of all safety protocols within the office. Assist with daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance as outlined for each dental clinic.
- Tele-Dentistry-participates as data recorder when tele-dentistry is utilized.
- Dental Outreach Events- participate when required in out of the office programs during dental outreach events, as a clinical assignment or another role.
- Additional Duties
- Perform other duties, as required.
- Based on Missouri recognized certification(s) held in good standing by any Dental Assistant, additional duties may be assigned according to supervision rules dictated by the Missouri State Dental Board Rules and Statues.
- Nitrous Oxide Certification
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be motivated to serve the needs of patients and perform services to benefit people and Missouri Highlands Health Care.
- Must possess a sense of discipline to work in accordance with accepted dental standards.
- Must maintain good relationships with necessary MHHC departments and all participating entities.
- Must possess a clear understanding of privacy practices, while maintaining appropriate contact with patients, parents/guardians and/or participating entities.
- Must possess reading and verbal skills necessary to understand and communicate, regarding dental records, procedures, and medication orders.
- Must possess and utilize tact and patience.
- Must possess a clean and neat professional appearance and good hygiene habits.
- Must maintain current BLS CPR certification.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
