Pharmacy delivery drivers are responsible for transporting pharmaceuticals and other medical supplies from one location to another. They may work directly for a pharmacy or be employed by a third-party delivery service.
Pharmacy delivery drivers must have an extensive knowledge of their route and the locations they visit. They must also know how to properly handle sensitive materials, such as prescription drugs.
Pharmacy Delivery Driver Job Duties
Pharmacy delivery drivers have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment by following all safety protocols, including wearing required safety equipment such as hard hats and safety glasses
- Inspecting packages for signs of damage or tampering prior to accepting deliveries
- Completing all required paperwork, including delivery reports and signatures from recipients of packages
- Receiving deliveries and unpacking them to ensure that they are intact and undamaged
- Following driving safety guidelines including speed limits, lane changes, and use of turn signals
- Maintaining a clean vehicle interior, including vacuuming, shampooing carpets, and dusting surfaces
- Loading and unloading deliveries from vehicles and warehouses
- Communicating with staff members at pharmacies, hospitals, and other businesses to arrange delivery times
- Preparing payments for shipping costs or other charges due at time of delivery
A Pharmacy Technician takes prescriptions and prepares medication for residents at the pharmacy, under the direction of the Pharmacist.
- Receiving and verifying the accuracy and authenticity of prescriptions
- Calculating the price of prescriptions
- Reviewing and recording patient information with their prescription in compliance with the guidelines of the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Stocking the pharmacy with inventory
- Supporting the Pharmacist in the daily operation of the pharmacy
- Protecting employees and patients by adhering to infection-control protocols and policies
- Disbursing completed and confirmed prescriptions for delivery to the facility
- Answering incoming calls and fielding questions
- Maintaining a clean and safe pharmacy by complying with regulations, rules and procedures
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
