Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to provide essential care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients by assisting them with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about caregiving and have experience in patient care, dementia care, or working in group home settings.
Duties
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs in various settings, including group homes and assisted living facilities.
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Implement individualized care plans while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality.
- Monitor clients’ physical and emotional well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Engage clients in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and enhance their quality of life.
- Assist with mobility needs, including lifting and transferring clients as necessary while adhering to proper safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any incidents that occur during shifts.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles is preferred; experience in patient care or dementia care is a plus.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
- Ability to lift and assist clients safely; physical stamina is required for this role.
- CPR certification is desirable; willingness to obtain certification if not already held.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in nursing or related fields is advantageous.
