WORK HOURS
8:00am - 4:30pm | M-F | 40 hours/wk | Rotating Weekends*

RESPONSIBLE TO
Activity Director and Assistant Activity Director
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION
Responsible for the implementation of a program of resident activities under the direction of the Activity Director
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Must demonstrate a patient and caring manner when working with residents & coworkers when arranging and implementing individual and group activities under the direction of the Activity Director.
- Must work cooperatively with co-workers and volunteers demonstrating a flexible and positive manner, as well as a willingness to help each other when interacting in the work environment.
- Must have ability to read, write, verbalize and understand English well enough to receive oral and/or written instructions and complete electronic documentation on residents assigned.
- Must be able to manually lift up to 20-30 pounds on occasion (10-25% of an 8 hour shift) and be able to walk and stand intermittently 75-90% of an 8 hour shift to transport residents to and from scheduled activities, assist residents on and off the bus for activities scheduled outside the care center.
- Will be expected to lift up to 60 pounds to transfer both residents living in the care center as well as those participating in our Day Care Service on an as needed basis 10% of the time or less during an 8 hour shift.
- Must be able and willing to climb a 4 foot to 6 foot ladder 10% of the time or less during an 8 hour shift.
- Must be able to manually push and/or pull residents in portable chairs 40% of the time during an 8 hour shift (20 pounds of effort).
- Hearing acuity must be sufficient to follow communication and monitoring with residents and co-workers. Should be able to use telephone.
- Visual acuity must be sufficient for reading written instructions, care plan cards, procedures, as well as reading to residents.
- Must be flexible and be able to adapt to change in procedures and sudden change in assignments as the need arises.
- Must be a creative person and enjoy hand crafts, cooking, reading and other therapeutic activities.
- Must be punctual and dependable with attendance.
- Must be able to complete electronic documentation for daily records of activities on each resident assigned and report any changes to the Activity Director or Assistant Activity Director.
- Will participate in activities designed to meet the spiritual needs of residents, keeping their religious preference in mind.
- Is responsible for cleaning supplies after each use and returning supplies and equipment to the appropriate places after completion of activity.
- Is responsible to help residents reach their activity goals and communicate these goals to the nursing staff and enlist their assistance and support to accomplish them.
- Is responsible for care and needs of clients in Day Care program as scheduled.
- Is responsible to attend a minimum of 12 hours of inservice/continuing education annually and demonstrate an interest in learning and building skill areas.
- Must respect and uphold resident rights in all regards including confidentiality of resident information, and refrain from any action that would be considered abusive physically, emotionally or verbally.
- Will be responsible to be aware of the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and Risk Management/Safety Program and will adhere to the established policies and procedures within the Activity department and facility wide with regards to job performance and safe operating procedures.
- Will use proper body mechanics and secure assistance of co-workers as needed and established by policy and the resident plan of care to protect residents and employees from unnecessary harm and injury.
- Is responsible to use universal precautions and infection control policies using good hand-washing techniques and other protective equipment when necessary. This includes goggles, masks, and gloves.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Will assist in the performance of resident care as a CNA on a PRN basis as may become necessary during the course of duty.
WORK CONDITIONS
A large, well-lighted and well-ventilated facility with carpeted or vinyl floors.

- Must possess current certification as a nurse assistant in ND, or be willing to obtain it within the first 6 months.
- Successfully pass a drug test, background check, including criminal history, certification registries, and employment history
- Completion of training as required by Missouri Slope
