RESPONSIBLE TO
Director of Missouri Slope Foundation
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION
Plan and implement a comprehensive fund development strategy and manage fundraising annual plan; coordinate special events and other related activities; build strong relations with Missouri Slope’s nine member churches.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop and implement innovative fundraising annual giving strategies to surpass previous year’s financial achievements.
- Support the development of and manage key aspects of a robust fund development program that includes implementation of best practices around donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; implement moves management strategies.
- Direct annual plans to secure new donors, retain existing donors, and upgrade donors to increased giving and engagement with a goal of increasing annual giving by 7% - 10% each year.
- Strategically prospect for new supporters and mine current database to support the cultivation of existing and potential donors with a goal of increasing donations and deepening the overall charitable giving pipeline.
- Responsible for special events management, coordination of special appeals/mini-campaigns, and donor stewardship to raise approximately $350,000 a year.
- Strengthen ties with corporate sponsors, volunteer committee members, event attendees, and honorees to secure sponsorships and sustained giving support.
- Active committee involvement: Provide support to the Annual Giving Committee of the Foundation; facilitate and contribute to event committee meetings, ensuring successful coordination and implementation of events.
- Engage and steward volunteers and donors, prioritizing retention, recognition, and growth.
- Coordinate church communications, volunteer development, and member church event planning with Missouri Slope’s pastoral care director, activities director, and foundation director.
- Proactively utilize the donor database for recording donor details, pinpointing engagement prospects, assessing philanthropic potential, and generating various reports for the Foundation.
- Monitor all donor information and work with the foundation associate to ensure data integrity.
- Provide reports, updates, and briefings to the foundation director and President/CEO of Missouri Slope by request.
OTHER JOB DUTIES
- Work closely with the foundation director to ensure implementation of an integrated fund development plan.
- Develop, inspire, and engage Missouri Slope staff and board members and work collaboratively with the foundation team to nurture and strengthen a culture of philanthropy.
- Establish and cultivate a network of community and church relationships, representing the Foundation and uncovering new support opportunities.
- Review/edit “Live, Work, Serve” and other print materials as assigned by the foundation director.
- Manage the storage and distribution of organizational materials and collateral.
- Work closely with the marketing specialist to target various publics with news and information about Missouri Slope and its impact in the community and state.
- Grant writing assistance when requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing duties of this job, the employee occasionally will be required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to touch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear; visual acuity proficient for an office setting and public venues. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Have reliable transportation to and from venue sites as needed.
WORK CONDITIONS
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines. The setting includes two Missouri Slope campuses, one in north Bismarck (Washington campus) and one in central Bismarck (Hillview skilled nursing facility and assisted living residences). In addition, this position will interface with donors, prospective donors, and the community in settings outside of Missouri Slope campuses (e.g., restaurants, country clubs, civic clubs, state capitol).

- Bachelor’s degree and minimum of five years’ experience in successful fundraising, marketing, and volunteer management
- Proven ability to recruit, lead, and motivate volunteers
- Understanding and commitment to not-for-profit mission organization and faith-based relationships
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with attention to detail and ability to build relationships with donors, internal teams, and external partners; speaking and presentation skills
- Highly organized and demonstrates strong follow-up skills; capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously with flexibility to address and resolve issues efficiently
- Results-oriented self-starter with an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit
- Demonstrated experience managing a dynamic workload and evolving priorities under tight deadlines
- Experience with budget preparation and management
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and fundraising database system(s)
- Sensitivity to needs and challenges of aging adults and their families
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Successfully pass a drug test, background check, including criminal history, certification registries, and employment history
- Completion of training as required by Missouri Slope
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES DESIRED
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail. Professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to balance multiple priority projects and meet deadlines. Knowledge of marketing techniques, photo and video editing, event planning and coordination.
- Multimedia and social media experience. Ability to work with database and software programs. Understanding of fundraising, prospect research, and campaign planning and implementation.
