General Function
The Community Focus Facilitator is responsible for oversight of the Community Focus project, including coalition building, meeting facilitation, networking, sponsor recruitment, communication and contract management. The Facilitator guides the work of the Research Manager, Administrative Assistant and Graduate Assistant.
Description Of Primary Duties
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in public health, health administration, communications, community/organizational psychology, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered for substitution of educational requirements.
Experience: At least two years of experience in community engagement, coalition building, or related field is required. Experience with project management is preferred. Experience with public speaking, public relations, and/or media relations is preferred. Experience serving in a supervisory role is preferred. Comprehensive understanding of the Springfield community, including partner networks, community engagement and social, cultural, and political nuances is required.
Skills: Expertise in monitoring project work plans and evaluating outcomes is required. The understanding and application of community organizing and coalition building through a dialogic process is preferred. The ability to independently manage the details associated with a complex project, track activities, and meet deadlines is required. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required. The ability to establish and maintain high performance standards for the internal team and an environment of quality improvement that values learning is required. The ability to navigate conflict professionally and maintain positive interpersonal relationships is required. The ability to be flexible and versatile in a changing work environment is preferred. The ability to listen, understand and effectively respond to the needs of internal and external customers within organizational parameters is preferred.
Other: This position is grant funded. Continuation of this position is contingent upon available grant or contract funding. The scope of this job requires some travel and occasional attendance at evening meetings and/or events.

Description Of Primary Duties
- Conducts literature/resource reviews and research to identify best practices.
- Develops and maintains strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts that support progress toward community-identified priorities.
- Ensures frequent and effective engagement, collaboration, and communication with a variety of community leaders and stakeholders.
- Ensures engagement opportunities for community members.
- Ensures the collection, analysis, management, and sharing of data to inform action.
- Facilitates and supports key data-centered initiatives that focus on long-term impact and foster sustainable change.
- Coordinates and facilitates meetings and communicate effectively with stakeholders to promote collaboration, negotiation, and problem solving.
- Plans, coordinates, and conducts educational and training activities.
- Develops training, reference materials, and workshops for various audiences.
- Continually maintains and develops content for the project website.
- Proactively works with media to promote the project and respond to inquiries.
- Continuously evaluates project effectiveness and makes work plan adjustments as warranted.
- Documents evaluation findings and project progress in reports to key stakeholders.
- Shares lessons learned and successes with broader audiences as appropriate.
- Works with Associate Director of OPHI to manage project expenditures in accordance with the budget.
- Seeks and writes grant proposals to obtain additional funding.
- Responds to shifts in the political, social, and cultural environment, while remaining focused on the overall mission and vision of the project.
- Directs and monitors staff performance, goals, assignments, and priorities and provide performance feedback.
- Ensures consistent, high-quality standards in project work.
- Maintains the public image of the organization.
