This is a skilled, mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of automotive and related equipment. Work is subject to inspection for conformance with specifications and acceptable standards of workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose cause of difficulty; rebuild, repair or adjust, as needed, automobiles, busses, trucks, tractors and other related equipment
- Replace, repair and service components and accessories of automobiles, trucks, tractors and other related equipment
- May make field repairs to equipment sufficient to resume operation but not involving major overhaul or rebuilding
- Disassemble, overhaul and repair motors and motor components
- May disassemble, overhaul and repaid transmissions, differentials and other assembles
- Disassemble, overhaul and adjust hydraulic systems, etc..
- Service and maintain equipment as needed, lubricating moving parts and bearings; make necessary season changes on equipment
- May perform or assist in performance of any of the following preparation of cost estimates, preparation of material orders, maintenance records and preparation or reports
Because of necessary fluctuation of workloads, an incumbent in this position may be required, on an occasional basis and according to need, to perform duties outside their area at a level of skill the same as or lower than required by their ordinary assignment. Normal safety requirements, scheduling and the most efficient use of staff and equipment are taken into consideration in such assignments.
* High school or equivalent. Demonstrated skill may offset requirements.
* Minimum of four years of actual work in the trade, including apprenticeship and/or vocational training.
* Knowledge and developed skills in all phase of automotive repair and maintenance, including hydraulic systems. Skill in the maintenance and use of tools, equipment and materials of the trade.
* Good physical health and coordination. Sufficient strength to perform some heavy lifting.
* Mechanical aptitude.
* A valid driver's license is necessary.
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $17.29-$23.04 hourly.
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
