Job Description

  • Support all new student program events with programming and coordination
  • Create checklists and to-do lists with student workers to complete and execute all New Student Program events
  • Review and edit communications via Slate in conjunction with Communications Team and the New Student Program manager
  • Maintain presentations and event schedules to ensure they remain current and up-to-date both in print and online
  • Assist student coordinators with creating duty schedules for events and ensure they are dispersed in a timely manner
  • Communicate with Admissions Counselors, Advisors, registered student organizations and fraternity and sorority life representatives who are participating in and working various New Student Program events sending reminders, communications, and running the department GroupMe for all events
  • Oversee department Social Media posts
  • Work all weekend Advising & Registration events
  • Work all Miner Welcome Bash Events
  • Work Training and Opening Week
  • Compile and create weekly office Schedule for PRO Leaders (student employee)
  • Serve as liaison to other departments
  • Serve as point of contact for conflict resolution between PRO Leaders (student employee) and administer appropriate discipline based on New Student Program Student handbook when appropriate
  • Work other admissions events as needed
  • Conduct bi-weekly meetings with Student Coordinators making sure all student workers are on task and where they need to be with various sectors of events they are coordinating
  • Assist Manager as needed with office events and planning, including Slate Events, emails and other forms of communication
  • Monitor and edit New Student Program Website and Online Orientation as needed for changes in information, policies, and content
  • Create and design unique department content with other New Student Program staff and students for various events serving as incentive for both students and parents
  • Review and edit PRO Leader (student employee) Handbook annually and assist with all new hire training
  • Serve as first intervention for PRO Leader (student employee) Conduct
  • Disperse polls, forms, and questionnaires to student workers collecting availability and any other pertinent information necessary for the planning and running of events and office tasks
  • Present to new students and their families at all Advising and Registrations
  • Be proficient and knowledgeable in regard to the admissions and enrollment process to answer any questions parents and students may have via email, on the phone or in-person at events
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years in higher education, event planning, marketing, or other highly interactive promotional field
  • Strong organizational skills, outstanding oral and written communication skills, self-motivation, and excellent interpersonal skills

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $18.50 to $19.79 hourly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.

COLLEGE of ENGINEERING & COMPUTING (CEC)

Missouri S&T’s College of Engineering and Computing is the largest of three colleges at S&T, accounting for approximately 80% of the total enrollment (about 4,500 undergraduates and 800 graduate students).
