The Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering Department at Missouri S&T invites applications for a short-term Research Engineer position. The successful candidate will collaborate with our dynamic research group on cutting-edge projects in materials development, advanced manufacturing, and structural systems. The role requires hands-on expertise in engineering design, research methodologies, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to ongoing research on materials characterization, structural performance, and innovative manufacturing techniques.
- Design, fabricate, and test prototypes using advanced CAD/CAM software, CNC machining, and 3D printing.
- Conduct experimental investigations and analyze data for research projects.
- Collaborate with faculty, students, and external stakeholders on research deliverables.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation to support project outcomes.
- Education: B.S. in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Skills: Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, Inventor, SolidWorks). Advanced CNC machining, 3D printing, and metal casting experience. Strong project management and leadership abilities. Knowledge of materials characterization and structural testing techniques. Hands-on experience with research equipment and mechanical systems.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in engineering research and development projects, preferably in an academic or industrial setting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
