The YMCA Summer Program Counselor provides fun and educational care to children entering 1st-4th grade in a summer camp environment.

In this role, you can look forward to:
- Being a role model.
- Assuring that children engage in fun, safe and constructive playtime, field trips and learning activities by implementing themed lesson plans daily.
- Supervising daily breakfast, lunch and snack times.
- Using appropriate disciplinary methods.
- Maintaining a clean, well-organized and safe environment.
- Assuring child safety by understanding and following safety and security procedures.
- Observing children and communicating appropriately with program supervisors and parents.
- Attending and be an active participant at staff meetings and training.
Seasonal Full & Part Time Shifts Available, Monday-Friday:
June 2nd-August 8th, 2025
- 7:15 am-2:30 pm
- 8:00 am-5:00 pm
- 10:00 am-5:30 pm
- 11:00 am-5:30 pm
- 12:30 pm-5:30 pm
- 2:30 pm-5:30 pm
We are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Previous experience working in an a childcare or educational setting preferred, but not required. CPR & First Aid Certification and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date required and are provided by the YMCA. This job is open to candidates ages 16 and older.
The YMCA Summer Program, or Y Explorers, is for children entering 1st-4th Grade and offers participants fun and educational experiences through weekly themes and daily activities that focus on achievement, relationships and belonging. The program is located at the YMCA at 1608 North Washington in Bismarck.
