ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide direction and supervision of the units above.
- Develop collaborative relationships with campus administrative areas, faculty, and campus community leaders to enhance planning and implement strategic initiatives, resolving issues, improving satisfaction and communicating student successes.
- Lead and cultivate a vibrant student activities and engagement program through the development of co-curricular programming that positively contributes to student success, retention, and to the University’s mission of a student-centered learning community preparing individuals for lives of excellence through applied learning.
- Promote a community of student engagement; oversee outreach and programming with varied and diverse student populations to create a sense of belonging.
- Develop, coordinate and assess a comprehensive student activities program of educational, recreational, social, and cultural programs which appeal to a diverse audience at the University and in the community.
- Engage in intentional and targeted programming for certain student populations including but not limited to students residing off-campus, commuting, first-generation and veteran students.
- Coach, advise and guide registered student organization leaders in conflict resolution, risk management, budget and finance, meeting management, behavior management and leadership skills.
- Plan and execute start of semester RSO training and orientation, major campus events and traditions, including Family Weekend, Homecoming, and the Student Awards Ceremony.
- Serve as a bridge and liaison for Admissions in the development of Griffon Orientation (GO) and integrating new students into the campus community.
- Oversee student facility requests, event management calendar/scheduling, and coordination with university staff for all event coordination and logistics.
- Participate in institutional effectiveness measures, including annual goals, objectives, planning and assessment of learning outcomes.
- Oversee the Division of Student Affairs social media presence in coordination with Marketing and Communications.
- Provide leadership and guidance in analysis, review, creation and interpretation of student policies and procedures.
- Support the goals of the University’s mission, vision and participate in strategic planning initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of workings of university structure, policies and procedures
- Leadership, supervision, planning and organization skills including team building, strategic planning, and continuous quality improvement
- Effective communication skills; ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively
- Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies across the University and the community
- Ability to operate independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong time management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy while adhering to tight deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook) and Google Workspace tools.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three to five years of related experience in student affairs or mentorship within an educational setting
- Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field, such as education, counseling,
- Five plus years of progressively responsible leadership in a higher education environment or related field
Physical Demands
Sedentary work; exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
