Job Description
Missouri Western State University invites qualified individuals to apply for our Director of Facilities Management opening. The Director of Facilities Management is an attentive, detail-oriented, and highly collaborative university partner. The Director is responsible for the development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures related to the operation and maintenance of facilities and grounds, including personnel management, budgeting, planning, capital construction and renovation, environmental safety, building operations, mechanical systems, motor pool, mailroom, and custodial services.
Supervisory Responsibilities : Physical Plant
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
- Oversees the daily Physical Plant management, operations, and office administration.
- Manages the departmental budget, service agreements, energy and conservation programs, and various reporting requirements.
- Executes purchasing procedures, inventory control programs, and projects requiring specialized labor.
- Complies with local, county, and state regulations; directs physical environment protocols and implements health and safety programs.
- Develops trade operation plans, building and grounds operations plans, architecture, civil, and mechanical engineering plans for implementation.
- Provides clear leadership, direction, and support for employees and fostering a culture of services, professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and compassion.
- Prepare, launch, and promote university assets with industry partners, including development opportunities with local employers.
- Collaborates with local industry and community partners and representatives on innovative models to determine workforce and / or talent needs, implement best practices, and provide technical advisory support to internal leadership and external constituents.
- Establishes terms and nature of maintenance, monitors deferred maintenance, and ensures long-range alignment of facilities, resources, and support services with University goals.
- Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands
Light Work : Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and / or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and / or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
