Job Summary
The Lab Teaching Assistant (LTA) assists nursing students in their understanding and application of nursing skills and assessments. This position is for the school year starting August 11, 2025 and ending May 10, 2026.
Essential Duties
1. Attend LTA orientation and training
2. Remain in good academic and professional standing to retain position
3. Coach, guide and validate student performance
4. Support application of standards based nursing practice
5. Maintain simulation lab environment for effective learning
6. Follow infection control guidelines
7. Communicate with faculty regarding student performance
8. Comply with Nursing Student Handbook and Simulation Lab Policies
9. Comply with assigned work schedule; timely notification of changes to Nursing Simulation Lab Director
10. Accurately maintain time sheets according to the Payroll Policy
11. Demonstrate competency of assigned skills
12. Ensure effective and efficient use of supplies and equipment
13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Nursing Simulation Lab Director

Required Qualifications
- MWSU Student
- Degree Seeking
- GPA of 2.0 or higher (Nursing courses 3.0)
- Nursing Student entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th semester of program
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Successful completion of all previous nursing courses
- Nursing courses must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Self-directed and organized
- Able to provide objective feedback
- Demonstrate professional oral and written communication skills
- Able to work effectively and efficiently with students, staff, faculty and other LTAs
- Able to recognize competent performance of select nursing skills
Physical Demands
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
