Quality Control SupervisorJob Description Summary:Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing Quality Control matters and maintaining Food Safety and Quality Assurance Management Systems to support manufacturing of wholesome and quality food. Quality Control Supervisor supports Quality Assurance Manager.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Fulfills and oversees tasks related to food safety, food quality and regulatory complianceAssists in 3rd party audits and annual SQF auditAssists in implementing corrective actions and preventive measures related to food safety and food quality non – conformitiesAssists implementing and safeguards USDA, QC, SQF and Food Safety related Policies and ProceduresCompletes or oversees completion of daily, weekly or monthly monitoring forms.Maintains HACCP Food Safety SystemAssists in annual HACCP reassessments and plan verificationResponsible for overseeing SSOPs and GMPResponsible for overseeing cleaning and housekeeping activitiesVerifies monthly sanitation scheduleResponsible for investigating food safety and quality related incidents discovered through customer complaints and reported by production or QC staffVerifies Pest Control Program is followedAssists in Microbiological Testing requirementsOversees and manages Foreign Material Control ProgramConducts facility audits and inspections.Responsible for verification and validation activities as outlined in SQF codeAssures Specification Program is followedAssists in company’s Food Safety and Quality trainingAssists in investigating product complaints, documents, recommends corrective action and responds to the inquiriesAbility to assist in training of QC employeesKnowledge of CCP’s in a processing environmentServes as plant liaison to USDA personnelPerform other duties as assignedSkills / Requirements:Relevant work experience in the meat processing industry. HACCP certification is preferred but not required. Knowledgeable of USDA, FSIS, HACCP, SQF, GMP, SSOP, Quality Assurance, and Food Microbiology requirements. Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Meat Science, Biology, or related field a plus but not required. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or company’s stakeholdersExcellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong decision making and problem-solving skillsAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concreate variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to carry out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws.Excellent planning, organizational, multi-tasking and project management skillsWorking conditionsMust be comfortable to work in cold and loud environment as this job requires to work in both office and plant setting environment. The position requires the physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending, the physical strength to lift and carry 30 pounds, physical ability to stand for long hours, to do repetitive work, good visual acuity and ability to work long hours and weekends when needed.
