The Interceptor and Sensor Technology Group is dedicated to advancing sensor and interceptor technologies for future surveillance, missile defense, and air defense systems. Our multidisciplinary team is currently engaged in the development of air and space-based visible and infrared sensors, novel tracking algorithms, and advanced control, guidance, and interceptor technologies. We are also pioneering seeker and missile system technologies for use in a future hypersonic defense architecture. Our programs span a wide array of activities including the prototyping of advanced electro-optical sensors and algorithms, laboratory and flight testing, phenomenology modeling and analysis, kill chain simulation, and extensive data analysis.

Job Description

Advanced Sensor and Interceptor Researcher
We are seeking a talented researcher to join our advanced interceptor and hypersonic project teams. Our projects include the modeling of missiles and hypersonic vehicles, interceptor seeker analysis and modeling, development of optimal control algorithms, and in-depth aero-thermomechanical multi-physics simulation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with a diverse and highly collaborative team to develop, research, and analyze concepts for next-generation defense technology solutions.
  • Analyze laboratory, ground, and flight data to draw out insights to inform technology development and government acquisition strategies.
  • Develop simulations and model performance of hypersonic kill chains and their constituent elements, including but not limited to:
  • Missiles (Vehicle Design, Aerodynamics, GNC, Trajectories, Signature Phenomenology)
  • Weapon Systems (Battle Management, Communications, Fire Control)
  • Sensors (Electro-Optical, Infrared, Radar)
  • Where necessary analyze multi-physics phenomenology using multi-fidelity tools and software.
  • Integrate with hardware teams when appropriate to aid in system prototyping efforts and testing.
  • Communicate findings and progress with technical and non-technical audiences, including peers and sponsors.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven analytical skills and experience with software simulation tools including proficiency in MATLAB.
  • Expertise in optical sensors, laboratory instrumentation, and modeling techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve technical problems both individually and as part of a team.
  • Capability to set and achieve personal and project goals in a timely manner.
  • Significant initiative and ability to perform independent research, set, and meet critical milestones.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Optics, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.7.
