DIRECTOR OF COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION
Summary:
Reporting to the SVP Construction, the Director of Commercial Construction oversees the company’s commercial construction projects and capital improvements, leading the commercial project management team to plan, scope, budget, schedule and contract each project. Working with the SVP Construction, the Director selects the third-party subcontractors and vendors, and coordinates internal project resources. During construction, the Director will travel to worksites to ensure production is proceeding in accordance with schedule and budget, and provides frequent updates to upper management and clients.
As a senior member of the Construction Division leadership team, the Director of Commercial Construction is responsible for leading, managing and mentoring the commercial construction team, and will be responsible for management of the Commercial Division budget.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct supervision of the commercial construction team to include Project Managers, Superintendents, and field labor.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to establish project design
- Develop project budget and timeline
- Select the most efficient and cost-effective subcontractors and vendors
- Oversee construction to ensure production meets deadlines within budget guidelines
- Document status updates and process reports for upper management and clients
- Review the closing of each project to ensure structures meet client specifications
- Business Development
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field highly preferred
- 10 years of construction experience with at least five in supervisory roles
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Valid driver's license
Physical Demands:
- Lift up to 50lbs at a time
- Some Travel required
- Extended periods of sitting and standing
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Work may include additional hours as required by projects and deadlines.
