Position Purpose :
The Equipment Operator / Skilled Laborer is responsible for operating company owned machinery in a safe and effective manner. Capable of operating hydraulic excavators and skid steers. Performs various manual labor tasks requiring some specialized skills to assist in the work of skilled tradesmen and craftsmen such as carpenters, plumbers, painters, mason, etc.
Responsibilities and Tasks :
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavator and skid steer; includes running, maneuvering, navigating, and driving
- Monitor information : includes materials, events, and environment; detects and assesses problems associated with heavy equipment
- Bring problems to the attention of the Project Manager and Superintendent immediately
- Checks fluid levels, tires, lights, and other controls for safe operation
- Load and unload equipment or materials both manually and with the use of equipment
- Monitor various gauges during operation of equipment
- Must keep equipment in a clean and orderly condition
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
- Other tasks as asked by Project Manager or Superintendent
