Maintenance Mechanic

Mitchell Brothers, Inc. is hiring a mechanic for their shop in Tallahassee, FL. The ideal candidate will possess a technical degree in diesel mechanics with at least 1-3 years of experience in their field. Problem solving mechanical, electrical and hydraulic problems with an array of medium to heavy duty equipment including but not limited to excavators, loaders, skid steers and pavers will be essential to succeed in this role.

Mechanic will be required to work in the shop as well as in the field. Our company specializes in Paving, Earth Work, Heavy Highway Construction, Concrete and Drainage construction.

Required Experience/Skills:

• Knowledge of small tools, gas and diesel engines

Knowledge and experience with electrical and hydraulics

• Must have ability to use hand tools and trades-type tools which require high mental and visual effort

• Must have safety and compliance knowledge

• Must have strong communication and listening skills

• Must have the ability to lift, push or pull 70 pounds, climb heavy equipment, and bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods

Job Description

• Oversee daily operation of the shop and ensure necessary vehicles and equipment are in working order.
• Must keep detailed records of inspection and repair and maintenance of all vehicles in accordance with USDOT and FMCSA regulations.
• Coordinate with CDL drivers to keep them safe on the road.
• Participates in weekly safety meetings.
• Operate heavy equipment.
